Streid Shines Against William Jewell
ST. LOUIS - The Saint Louis swimming and diving teams pulled away big wins the the program's first home meet of the season. The men's team topped William Jewell 164-104, while the women topped the Cardinals 175-74. The men rise to 7-4, while the women are 9-4.
The top performer for the women was senior Taylor Streid, who won every event she competed in. She won the 100-yard backstroke (59.14), 500-yard freestyle (5:04.51) and 200-yard IM (2:09.34) while participating in the 200-yard medley relay, which won with a time of 1:49.77.
For the men, sophomore Patrick MacArt won the 50-yard freestyle (21.78) and the 200-yard IM (2:00.33) while swimming on the winning 400-yard freestyle relay squad (3:12.80).
Overall, SLU won 25 of the meet's 30 events. The Billikens finished in the top two spots in 10 events, while sweeping the podium five times.
Next up for the Bills is senior night on Jan. 25. Saint Louis will host Western Illinois at 5:30 at the Simon Rec Center. The swim program will recognize team's the eight seniors in a pre-meet ceremony.
