Men's Swimming Picks up Victory in Evansville

EVANSVILLE, IND. - The Saint Louis swimming and diving teams split contests against Evansville with the men winning 148-83 and the women losing 138-103. The men are now 9-4 in dual meets and the women fall to 10-5.

On the men's side, the Bills won 10 of the meet's 13 events. Sophomore Justin Pasquesi was the top scorer for SLU, winning the 1000-yard (10:00.60) and 500-yard (4:48.30) freestyle events while helping the Billikens to a win in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:26.12, 21.53 split on the anchor leg).

For the women, the duo of sophomore Morgan Peterson (Bentonville, Ark.) and senior Taylor Streid (Peoria, Ill.) each built on their already impressive weekends. Peterson won the 200-yard individual medley (2:09.49), 100-yard butterfly (57.33) and 100-yard breaststroke (1:06.98). She has not lost an event in either of the past two meets. Streid continued to excel in the pool, winning the 200-yard freestyle (1:55.93) and 100-yard backstroke (59.39). She also swam with the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:41.53) and finished second.

Saint Louis will return to action next Friday Feb. 1, when it wraps up the regular season at Eastern Illinois. The meet will begin at 6 p.m. Following Eastern Illinois, the Billikens will start to prepare for the Atlantic 10 conference championship in Geneva, Ohio on Feb. 20.
