ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis is the No. 8 seed for the 30th annual Atlantic 10 Conference Women’s Tennis Championship and will take on No. 9 Temple in a first-round match Thursday, April 18, at Boar’s Head Sports Club in Charlottesville, Va. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m. (CT).

The winner of the match between the Billikens (12-7) and Owls (9-13) likely will face top-seeded VCU in the quarterfinals Friday at 9 a.m. (CT). VCU meets La Salle in the opening round of the single-elimination tournament.

Saint Louis, which has won four of its last five matches, has posted a double-digit victory total in eight straight seasons. At 12-7, the Billikens are assured of a sixth consecutive winning record.

VCU, playing its first season in the A-10 after winning the Colonial Athletic Association title last year, is ranked 38th in the nation by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. Xavier is the No. 2 seed, followed by Massachusetts, Richmond, Charlotte, George Washington and Fordham.

Duquesne follows SLU and Temple at No. 10. Rounding out the field are Saint Joseph’s, Rhode Island, Butler, Dayton, St. Bonaventure and La Salle.

Last season, Saint Louis defeated Fordham 4-2 in the opening round before falling to Charlotte by the same score in the quarterfinals.

Richmond has captured the last four and nine of the last 11 conference crowns. The Spiders defeated Massachusetts 4-3 in last year’s championship match.

The semifinals are set for Saturday at 9 a.m. and noon (CT). Sunday’s title match, which determines the A-10’s automatic qualifier for the NCAA Championship, begins at 9 a.m. (CT).
