Field Hockey Announces 2013 Schedule

ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis head field hockey coach Lauren Bruce has announced the Billikens’ 2013 schedule. SLU will play seven home dates on its 20-match slate.

The Bills open the season with six road contests, beginning with Robert Morris on Aug. 31 in Mt. Pleasant, Mich., at 1:00 p.m.  It is the seventh consecutive season SLU has played RMU. Saint Louis will take on Central Michigan the next day, Sept. 1, at noon. The following weekend, the Billikens travel to Bloomington, Ind. to take on Indiana (Sept. 6, 4 p.m.) and Radford (Sept. 7, 3 p.m.). The Bills wrap up the road trip in Kent, Ohio, to take on Kent State (Sept. 13, noon) and Villanova (Sept. 14, noon).

Saint Louis will play its first home match on Sept. 20 against Bryant at 1 p.m. It will be the first meeting between the schools. On Sept. 22, the Billikens will host Ball State at Soccer Park in Fenton, Mo. at 1 p.m. Last season, SLU topped Ball State 3-2 in Muncie, Ind.

Following the pair of home matches, SLU will return to the road for three games. On Sept. 27, the Bills take on Liberty at 2:30 p.m. They then head to the nation’s capital for a meeting with Georgetown on Sept. 29 at noon. To open the month of October, the Billikens will play Missouri State in Springfield, Mo. on Oct. 1, at 6 p.m. The Bills and Bears have met 85 times, more than any other opponent in SLU history.

The Billikens will then return home for three contests. Ohio will come to St. Louis on Oct. 12 at 1 p.m., followed by another matchup with Missouri State on Oct. 13 at 1 p.m. On Oct. 18, Saint Louis will open conference play against VCU at 1 p.m. at Soccer Park.

Saint Louis will play Richmond on Oct. 20 in Virginia at 11 a.m. (CT). The Billikens then travel to Philadelphia, Pa., for a pair of games- Saint Joseph’s (Oct. 25, 11 a.m.) and La Salle (Oct. 27, 1 p.m.).

The 2013 regular season will wrap up with two conference home games. The Billikens take on UMass on Nov. 1 at 1 p.m. and Lock Haven on Nov. 3 at 1 p.m. Both of these contests will be at Soccer Park.

The 2013 Atlantic 10 Conference Championship will be played at UMass on Nov. 8-9.
