ST. LOUIS Saint Louis players captured seven flight championships as the Billikens opened their fall season hosting the Billiken Classic Friday and Saturday at Dwight Davis Tennis Center.

Madison Cook and Vuk Poledica led the SLU women and men, respectively. Cook won Flight 3 singles with a 3-0 record and added a 2-1 doubles mark, while Poledica claimed Flight 6 singles with a 3-0 ledger and went 2-1 in doubles.

Also winning singles flights for the men were Nishaad Balachandran, 2-0 in Flight 4, and Joe Flanagan (tied), 2-1 in Flight 2. Balachandran and Flanagan were the Flight 2 doubles champions with a 2-1 mark. The women’s team added titles by Natalia Yacaman in Flight 5 singles (2-0) and Stephanie Hollis and Aspen Cervin in Flight 3 doubles (2-0).

The Billiken women combined for a 25-10 record, while the SLU men were 25-12. Leading the women’s team were Cook (5-1), Hollis (4-0), Cervin (4-1), Yacaman (4-1) and Maria Toro (4-2). Poledica (5-1) led the men’s squad, followed by Balachandran (4-1), Flanagan (4-2) and Miguel Flores (4-2).
