Connor Gandossy joined the Billiken coaching staff for the 2015 season after a very successful playing career at SLU. He was a four-year letter winner, playing in 157 games and making 106 starts behind the dish. One of the best defensive catchers in SLU history, Gandossy finished his career with a .986 fielding percentage and recorded 615 putouts, 12th all-time at SLU.
In his coaching career, Gandossy has helped mentor 11 athletes who have gone on to get drafted in the MLB First Year Player Draft.
With the coaching staff at Saint Louis, Gandossy has coached draft picks Grant Nelson, Jake Henson and Colton Frabasilio, who are all catchers. His recruiting efforts also have helped SLU achieve the 60th ranked recruiting class in 2016 by Perfect Game.The 2015 class also reached top 100, coming in at No. 82.
Prior to joining the Billikens, Gandossy spent a season with Jefferson College, where he served as an assistant coach. He oversaw the Vikings’ hitting instruction, recruiting efforts and coached the catchers. Gandossy helped develop Ryan Rippee, who was a 31st-round draft pick in the 2013 MLB First-Year Player Draft.
Gandossy also served as an assistant coach for the Laconia Muskrats of the New England Collegiate Baseball League in the summer of 2013. With the Muskrats, he coached Ryan McBroom, a 15th round selection of Toronto. McBroom enters the 2016-17 season as the 28th ranked prospect in the Jays' organization.
