ST. LOUIS – The Saint Louis University women’s cross country squad is predicted to finish fourth in the Atlantic 10 Conference according to a preseason vote of the league’s head coaches. The SLU men were tabbed to finish sixth.

Last season, the SLU women’s squad matched its best-ever finish at the A-10 meet by placing fourth. Three runners collected All-Conference honors, awarded to student-athletes who finish in the top 15. Among those All-Conference honorees are seniors Jessica Hoefert (ninth) and Annika Gomell (15th).

The men’s team finished seventh at the conference meet last season, the best A-10 showing in school history. Senior Tim Zellmer paced the Billikens with a seventh-place finish, while senior Michael Scolarici finished ninth. It was the second year in a row the duo claimed All-Conference honors.

Saint Louis opens the 2014 campaign Saturday, Aug. 30, at the Gabby Reuveni Early Bird in Forest Park. SLU hosts the Forest Park XC Festival in St. Louis on Friday, Sept. 12. Both events take place at Central Field in Forest Park.

The A-10 Championships, hosted by Duquesne in Pittsburgh, are scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 1.
