PEORIA, Ill. – Saint Louis’ men’s cross country team picked up the team title at the Bradley Pink Classic on Friday afternoon in Peoria, Ill. It is the third team title for the Billikens this season.

Manuel De Backer led the Billikens and finished second overall with an 8K time of 24:23.5. SLU posted a team score of 103 to finish ahead of Windsor (128), Lamar (143), Notre Dame (181), Eastern Illinois (182), Colorado (194), Indiana (231) and 20 other schools.

On the women’s side, Anna Schmitz led SLU with a 6K time of 21:45.6, which was good for 39th. The Billikens finished 12th overall.

"The men ran another outstanding race,” SLU head coach Jon Bell said. “They ran with great poise this afternoon and are very deserving of this victory. We have 15 more days to prepare for the Atlantic 10 Conference Championships and we still have a few finishing touches to put on our training. The men are excited as we enter the championship portion of the season.

“Anna Schmitz did an excellent job leading our women today,” Bell continued. “She is starting to take a leadership role, which I'm happy to see. Natalie Davis had a huge PR today and ran herself into our scoring five. We are continuing to progress and are looking forward to the A-10 Championships.”

SLU is next in action at the A-10 Championships on Saturday, Oct. 29, in the Richmond suburb of Mechanicsville, Virginia.
