Trio of Billikens Earn A-10 Swimming Awards

ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis swimming and diving had three swimmers earn weekly accolades from the Atlantic 10 Conference office. The men’s team swept the awards with Ryan McCoy earning Performer of the Week and Collin O'Brien being named Rookie of the Week. On the women’s side, Mina Glenesk was named co-Performer of the Week.

McCoy had a strong meet at the TYR Invitational. He earned an NCAA “B” cut and finished second in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 47.74. McCoy also turned in a time of 1:38.13 in the 200-yard freestyle as the leadoff in the 800-yard freestyle relay. Both times are the best in the A-10 this season.

O'Brien scored in several events for the Billikens. He had top-eight finishes in the 50-yard breaststroke, 200-yard freestyle, 100-yard breaststroke and 200-yard IM.  O’Brien’s 200-yard IM time of 1:51.77 is ranked first in the A-10 this year.

Glenesk placed third in the 500-yard freestyle, fifth in the 200-yard freestyle and seventh in the 1650-yard freestyle at the TYR Invitational. She broke school records in the 500-yard freestyle (4:53.76), 1000-yard freestyle (10:19.41, first 1,000 in 1650-yard freestyle) and 1650-yard freestyle (17:05.15).  Glenesk is ranked first in the A-10 in the 500-yard freestyle and 1650-yard freestyle.

Select Billiken swimmers will travel to the USA Swimming Winter Nationals in Atlanta, Georgia. on Nov. 30-Dec. 3. The rest of the team will return to the pool on Dec. 3 for the Eastern Illinois Relay Meet in Charleston, Illinois, on Dec. 3.
