BILLIKENS, RAMS PLAY FIRST OF TWO MEETINGS

•The Saint Louis Billikens (12-3, 2-0 Atlantic 10) go for a season-high sixth consecutive victory Sunday afternoon when they take on the VCU Rams (9-7, 2-1) in Richmond, Virginia. Tip time at the Siegel Center is noon (CT).

•Saint Louis improved to 2-0 in conference play for the first time in nine years by steamrolling George Mason 89-50 Wednesday night. VCU collected its third straight win the following evening, topping crosstown rival Richmond 62-55.

•The Billikens are ranked No. 4 in the most recent (Jan. 4) ESPNW national mid-major poll. They are seeking the first 3-0 conference start in program history.

•The Billikens and Rams square off again Wednesday, Feb. 8, in St. Louis.

•The Billikens made 12 3-pointers and held George Mason to 28 percent field goal shooting in an 89-50 rout of the Patriots Wednesday night at Chaifetz Arena. Click here to read the recap.

•Saint Louis leads the A-10 in scoring offense (77.5 ppg), field goal percentage (.461), 3-point field goals (7.3/game), 3-point field goal percentage (.358), free throw percentage (.750), assists (19.4 apg), assist-turnover ratio (1.52:1), fewest turnovers (12.7 tpg), defensive rebounding (31.2 drpg) and scoring margin (+18.8 ppg).

•The Billikens are second in free throws made (14.8/game), free throw attempts (19.7/game), field goal percentage defense (.357), rebounding margin (+7.7 rpg) and turnover margin (+1.3/game).

•Three players own double-digit scoring averages, led by Sadie Stipanovich (14.8 ppg). Jackie Kemph tosses in 14.6 points per game, followed by Jordyn Frantz (11.7 ppg).

•Stipanovich hauls in a team-high 8.6 rebounds per game, followed by Olivia Jakubicek with 7.0 rpg.

•Kemph dishes out a team-high 7.9 assists per game.

•Frantz has a team-high 30 3-pointers, followed by Jenny Vliet with 26.

•Frantz and Jakubicek average a team-high 1.4 steals apiece.

•SLU is the preseason favorite to win a conference championship for the first time in program history.

•In addition to the A-10 coaches’ prediction, College Sports Madness picked the Billikens to win the A-10 crown and projected them as a No. 10 seed in the NCAA Championship.

Jackie Kemph was selected to the A-10 preseason All-Conference first team, while Sadie Stipanovich earned a second-team nod. 

HEAD COACH LISA STONE

•Fifth-year head coach Lisa Stone, the 2015-16 A-10 Coach of the Year, owns a 580-301 record in her 31st year as a collegiate head coach. Stone is 77-64 at Saint Louis.

•In addition to earning the A-10 Coach of the Year award, Stone was selected High Major Coach of the Year by College Sports Madness.

•Before arriving at SLU, Stone was 128-119 in eight seasons at Wisconsin, 64-27 in three years at Drake, 277-59 in 12 campaigns at Wisconsin-Eau Claire, and 34-32 in three seasons at Cornell (Iowa).

SCOUTING REPORT: VCU

•VCU scores 65.6 points per game and allows 63.8 points per game. The Rams shoot 39.9 percent from the field overall, 31.4 percent from 3-point range and 67.5 percent from the free throw line.

•VCU leads the A-10 with 16.1 offensive rebounds per game.

•Senior guard Keira Robinson is the only VCU player to carry a double-digit scoring mark (12.4 ppg). Five other Rams tally between 5.8 and 8.9 points per game.

•Junior forward Curteeona Brelove hauls in a team-high 6.8 rebounds per game, including 3.4 offensive boards.

•Redshirt-senior guard GG Goodhope averages 3.4 assists, while Robinson is the team leader with 1.9 steals per game.

•Senior guard Isis Thorpe has canned a team-high 19 3-pointers.

•The Billikens host St. Bonaventure Wednesday, Jan. 11. The game begins at 11 a.m. and will be televised on NBC Sports Network. Approximately 3,000 local students are expected to attend and take part in SLU’s annual Education Day.
