•Saint Louis concluded play in the Racer Classic with a 2-1 loss to host Murray State Friday evening.
•The Billikens fell to 11-6, while the Racers improved to 19-5.
•SLU’s final two games in the tournament will not be played due to forecast bad weather.
HOW IT HAPPENED
•Saint Louis loaded the bases in the bottom of the first inning but failed to score.
•Murray State plated two unearned runs in the third.
•In the seventh, the Billikens cut the Racers’ lead in half on Kaylyn Breitbach’s two-out RBI double but could not score the tying run.
•Maddie Baalman (4-3) was the tough-luck losing pitcher. Baalman recorded a career-high nine strikeouts and allowed just five hits and two walks.
•Alex Nickel, Emma Buckles, Alyssa Tarquinio and Mackenzie Peter all singled.
UP NEXT•The Billikens conclude regular-season tournament play at Memphis’ Tiger Classic Friday and Saturday, March 17-18. SLU will play Memphis and Eastern Kentucky two games apiece.
