•The Saint Louis softball team concluded regular-season tournament play Saturday with two losses at the University of Memphis’ Tiger Classic. The Billikens fell 3-2 to Memphis in eight innings and 4-2 to Eastern Kentucky.
•Saint Louis slipped to 11-10 on the season.
GAME 1 – HOW IT HAPPENED
•Saint Louis took a 2-0 lead in the third inning on Allie Macfarlane’s two-run double.
•Memphis scored twice, including an unearned run, in the bottom of the seventh to tie it. Billiken pitcher Maddie Baalman escaped a bases-loaded jam with nobody out to send the game to extra innings.
•The Tigers plated the winning run in the eighth on a two-out error.
GAME 1 – BILLIKEN NOTABLES
•Baalman allowed just one earned run, three hits and three walks.
•Macfarlane had two hits.
•Alex Nickel and Alyssa Tarquinio produced a double apiece.
•Emma Buckles, Mackenzie Lawson and Josie Knesel registered singles.
GAME 2 – HOW IT HAPPENED
•The Billikens struck first in the bottom of the second inning on Mackenzie Peter’s two-out solo blast, her team-leading fifth home run of the season.
•Eastern Kentucky tallied twice in the top of the third.
•Saint Louis pulled even in the fifth when Nickel clubbed her first homer of the year, a one-out solo shot.
•EKU scored twice in the top of the seventh.
GAME 2 – BILLIKEN NOTABLES
•Buckles had a double.
