Dean Jordan was named an assistant coach for the track and field teams at Saint Louis University in August 2016. His primary responsibilities with the Billikens include coaching the jumps and pole vault.
Jordan has coached several Billikens who have experienced high levels of success. Katie Wissing captured the gold in the women's triple jump at the A-10 Outdoor Championships in 2019. She would go on to compete in the NCAA Preliminary Rounds in the event.
On the men's side, he has coached Billiken school-record holders Jake Johnson (long jump), Alex Oleson (high Jump), Ethan Erusha (triple jump) and Joey Fiandaca (pole vault).
Jordan came to SLU after spending the 2015-16 season as the jumps coach at Fontbonne University. While with the Griffins, he helped student-athletes register 17 PRs and 10 school records during his tenure. He has additional coaching experience with the Swamp Fox Track Club in Marion, Illinois, and the Bloomington (Illinois) Track and Field Camp.
A 2015 graduate of Southern Illinois, Jordan was a four-year student-athlete for the Salukis’ track and field squad. He competed as a decathlete and horizontal jumper at SIU under former Olympian and Olympic women’s head coach Connie Price-Smith. Jordan was a member of Southern Illinois’ 2015 Outdoor Track and Field Men’s Missouri Valley Conference championship team.
Jordan earned a bachelor’s degree in exercise science from SIU. He was a member of the Dean’s List, Honor Roll, earned the NCAA Commissioner’s Academic Excellence Award (2012-13) and was a MVC Scholar-Athlete from 2013-15.
