PEORIA, Ill. – After a thrilling opening win in The Basketball Tournament Saturday night, the Majerus SLU Crew came up short in an 81-70 defeat at the hands of an alumni team from Marquette on Sunday at Renaissance Coliseum.

The SLU Crew, which featured six SLU alumni, battled with the top-seeded Golden Eagles and took the lead with 9:13 left in the second half. But Marquette responded to build a double-digit lead several minutes later and held on for the win.

Jordair Jett scored 19 points to lead the SLU Crew, while Mike McCall Jr. and Kwamain Mitchell drained 16 points apiece.

The run comes to an end for the Majerus SLU Crew in the single-elimination, winner-take-all $2 million tournament.
