ST. LOUIS -- Saint Louis sophomore outside hitter Sien Gallop was selected the Atlantic 10 Conference volleyball Player of the Week for Oct. 30-Nov. 5, the league office announced today. It is the first A-10 weekly award of Gallop’s career.
Gallop turned in her seventh and eighth kill-dig double-doubles of the season to help lead the Billikens to A-10 victories over Fordham and Rhode Island. She averaged 5.75 kills, 2.50 digs, 0.88 service aces and 0.50 blocks per set and registered a .319 hitting percentage in the two matches.
Gallop began the weekend by posting match highs of 21 kills and four service aces to go with 10 digs and two blocks in a 3-1 win over Fordham Nov. 3. She followed with a career- and match-high 25 kills, 10 digs, three service aces and two blocks as the Billikens defeated Rhode Island 3-1 Nov. 5.
Gallop and her teammates conclude the regular season on the road this weekend, taking on George Mason Friday and George Washington Saturday. The Billikens (11-14, 8-4 A-10) are in third place in the conference and have clinched a spot in the six-team A-10 Championship.
