ST. LOUIS -- Saint Louis freshman outside hitter Maya Taylor has been selected the Atlantic 10 Conference volleyball Rookie of the Week for the period of Nov. 6-11. The award is Taylor’s third of the season.


Taylor compiled 26 kills (4.33 per set), a .293 hitting percentage, four digs and two blocks to help lead the Billikens to 3-0 road victories over George Mason and George Washington last week. After posting 12 kills vs. George Mason, she hit .542 (14-1-24) vs. George Washington as Saint Louis registered a season-high .371 hitting efficiency.


Taylor concluded the regular season as SLU’s leader in kills (327) and kills per set (3.48). She ranks second in kills per set, fourth in kills and fifth in points per set (3.7) in the A-10.


The Billikens, who finished third in the league, take on sixth-seeded George Washington in an A-10 Championship quarterfinal match Friday, Nov. 17. First serve at Duquesne University’s A.J. Palumbo Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is slated for 4:30 p.m. (CT).


A victory advances the Billikens to Saturday’s 3:30 p.m. (CT) semifinal, where they would face second-seeded Dayton. The title match is scheduled for Sunday at noon (CT).
