ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis cross country & track and field head coach Jon Bell announced today that two standouts have signed National Letters of Intent to attend the University and run for the Billikens. They begin their four years of eligibility in the 2018-19 academic year.

Joining the men's team is Stephen Kielhofner (Springfield, Mo./Springfield Catholic). Gabi Kohring (Webster Groves, Mo./Webster Groves) will join the women's program.

Kielhofner is a two-time Missouri Class 3 state champion on the track in the 1,600 and 3,200 meters. He was the 2016 Missouri Class 3 state champion in cross country and is a four-time All-State selection. Kielholfner's PRs are as follows: 800m – 1:56.03; 1600m – 4:17.97; 3200m - 9:27.28; and 5K XC/ – 5:22

"I believe Stephen will immediately make an impact on our men's team," Bell said. "He will have a great opportunity to train and race with some of the best distance runners in our program's history, and the torch will be passed to our younger men in the very near future. Stephen has the endurance and the foot speed to be truly special at the collegiate level."

Kohring, a St. Louis Post-Dispatch All-Metro selection, won district and sectional titles in cross country her junior year. She owns Webster Groves' school record in the 3,200 meters, a PR of 11:09. Her top 5K time in cross country is 18:51.

"Gabi is one of the best prep runners in the St. Louis metro area and we could not be more excited to have her join our program next fall," Bell said. "Gabi is incredibly competitive, which will be a welcomed infusion to our current crop of women distance runners. Again, we have made the commitment to recruiting the best student-athletes from St. Louis and the state of Missouri, and I believe Gabi has the potential to have a great college career at SLU"
