ST. LOUIS – The Saint Louis swimming and diving teams defeated Missouri-St. Louis in dual-meet action Saturday afternoon. The women’s team improved to 11-3 on the season with a 167-36 victory, while the men’s team won 137-64 to go to 7-4.
The Billiken women won all 12 events, with Mina Glenesk and Katie Schmude capturing two individual events apiece. Glenesk won the 50 free (25.22) and 100 free (53.91), while Schmude placed first in the 1000 free (11:02.45) and 200 breast (2:32.02).
Also winning were Elaine Mahon in the 500 free (5:20.11); Maggie Sheean in the 200 back (2:14.36); Alex Schmid in the 200 fly (2:16.35); Savannah Nichols in the 400 IM (4:52.65); Natalie Daniel in the 200 free (1:59.28); the 200 medley relay team of Riley Kirby, Morgan Parkinson, Nichols and Mary First (1:49.08); and the 200 free relay squad of Sheean, Erica Morris, First and Mahon (1:41.75).
The Billiken men also had two competitors win a pair of individual events. Ryan McCoy touched first in the 50 free (22.01) and 100 free (47.34), while Collin O’Brien prevailed in the 200 breast (2:11.68) and 200 free (1:47.57).
Joining McCoy and O’Brien in the win column were Justin Mars in the 400 IM (4:15.63); Isaiah Williams in the 200 fly (1:55.61); TJ Halliburton in the 200 back (1:54.49); and the 200 free relay team of Mars, Christian L’Italien, Luke Van Gorp and McCoy (1:28.35).
The Billikens welcome Evansville to Simon Rec Center Thursday, Jan. 18, for a dual meet that begins at 5 p.m.
