ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis University head women’s soccer coach Katie Shields today announced the signing of six student-athletes to National Letters of Intent to attend the University and play for the Billikens. All six will have four years of eligibility beginning with the 2018 season.
The new Billikens are defender Isabel Burke (Webster Groves, Mo./Webster Groves H.S./St. Louis Scott Gallagher), midfielder Megan Crevoiserat (Mequon, Wis./Divine Savior Holy Angels/SC Waukesha), midfielder Hannah Friedrich (St. Louis, Mo./Hazelwood West H.S./St. Louis AFA Fillies), forward Delaney Gunn (Omaha, Neb./Marian H.S./Sporting Omaha FC), goalkeeper Kasey Hartmann (St. Louis, Mo./Lutheran South H.S./St. Louis Scott Gallagher) and forward Kassidy Newsom (Lee’s Summit, Mo./Lee’s Summit West H.S./Sporting Blue Valley Showcase).
“We are thrilled to welcome our 2018 recruiting class officially into the Billiken family,” Shields said. “These six individuals will immediately elevate our level of talent on the field and positively impact our program’s culture off the field. This group will be instrumental in helping our returning players fulfill our vision of winning an Atlantic 10 Conference championship and a berth in the NCAA Tournament.”

Will earn her fourth varsity letter this spring … helped lead Webster Groves to Class 3 state titles in 2016 and 2017 … as a junior, was named All-State, All-Region, first-team All-Conference and first-team All-Metro … in her sophomore season, earned All-State honorable mention, spots on the All-Region team and All-Conference first team, and Webster Groves’ Defensive Player of the Year award … second-team All-Conference as a freshman … her club team made the 2017 national semifinals, won the ECNL Midwest Conference twice and captured a Champions League crown, and will compete in the national tournament in June … four-year scholar-athlete, four-year Renaissance Award recipient and National Honor Society member at Webster Groves.
Coach Shields on Burke: “Isabel is a local product coming to us from one of the top club teams in the country, St. Louis Scott Gallagher. She will continue the tradition of strong defenders from SLSG to join our program. Isabel is an athletic defender who will be difficult for opponents to beat in the air and on the ground. She will strengthen our backline, which was among the best in the country last season.”

Will earn her fourth varsity letter this spring … named first-team All-State as a junior and honorable mention as a sophomore … earned Top Drawer Soccer All-Region and All-State accolades and was NSCAA All-Region as a junior … helped lead her team to the Division 1 (large school) state championship as a sophomore … recognized as first-team All-Area in her junior season, second-team All-Area as a sophomore and first-team All-Conference as a sophomore and junior … in ODP competition (00’s), played for the Region II team and made the All-Star list at the 2017 Thanksgiving interregional event, was a Region II pool player holdover in 2016 and 2017, and was a member of the Wisconsin state team from 2014-17 … Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Player of the Year finalist as a junior … helped lead her SC Waukesha club team to five consecutive state titles (2014-18) and the 2015 regional semifinal … achieved First Honors every semester … National Honor Society member … member of Student Athletic Advisory Council.
Coach Shields on Crevoiserat: “Megan is a technical master. She has the ability to dictate the rhythm of the game in the midfield. Megan fits our program’s style of play perfectly. She has a high soccer IQ and the technical ability to break down an opponent in the attacking third of the field.”

Four-year varsity starter … team captain as a junior … garnered Class 4 All-State and All-Region plaudits as a sophomore and junior … named the 2017 Class 4 Offensive Player of the Year, setting the Hazelwood West season record for goals … three-time first-team All-Conference choice who was selected conference Player of the Year in 2016 and 2017 … received All-Metro and NCCAA All-Central honors as a junior … helped her club team win the 2016 Missouri State Cup and reach regional competition in 2017 … inducted into the St. Louis Soccer Hall of Fame as a Future Star in 2017 … has maintained honor roll grades throughout high school.
Coach Shields on Friedrich: “Hannah is a dynamic, attacking-minded player who has the ability to be both a playmaker and a goal scorer out of the midfield. She is a fierce competitor who will add another dimension of toughness and relentlessness to our team attack.”

Will earn her third varsity letter this spring … helped lead Marian to the state title the past two seasons … was a second-team All-Metro selection as a junior … made the All-State second team as a sophomore when she led Marian in goals … her club team was a regional finalist and national qualifier in 2017 … was her club’s 2016 Player of the Year … Marian High School co-valedictorian.
Coach Shields on Gunn: “Delaney is an athletic forward who can score goals or create opportunities for her teammates. Her relentless work rate and leadership qualities are going to make an immediate impact on the culture of our program.”

Earned All-State honors as a freshman … selected Class 2 All-Region and All-District as a freshman and sophomore … named a Lutheran All-American in her sophomore season … posted a combined 12 shutouts her freshman and sophomore campaigns … did not play high school soccer as a junior in order to train for national competition with her club team … the club won the last two ECNL Midwest titles and registered a combined 29-0-3 Champions League record in those seasons, including 16-0 last year when she notched 12 shutouts … a member of National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society and student council … made the honor roll every semester and serves as a student ambassador.
Coach Shields on Hartmann: “Kasey is an excellent goalkeeper also joining us from St. Louis Scott Gallagher. She has great size and athleticism. Over the last two years we have watched Kasey develop into an elite youth goalkeeper. Under the guidance of assistant coach Kelly Young, Kasey has the potential to develop into an elite goalkeeper in the Atlantic 10 Conference during her time in our program. She is a strong addition to our outstanding goalkeeping group.”

Will earn her fourth varsity letter this spring … tallied 45 goals and 27 assists in her first three seasons … Class 4A first-team All-State and region Offensive Player of the Year as a junior … three-time All-District and All-Conference … helped lead Lee’s Summit West to a third-place state finish in 2017 … has played on club teams that have captured four Missouri State Cup championships, two USYS Central Region II titles and a third-place national finish … was the top scorer in the 2015 and 2016 region tournaments … “Best 11” selection at the 2015 national tournament … USYS National League “Golden Boot” winner in 2016 … National Honor Society member and four-year honor roll student.
