SAINT LOUIS – Collin O’Brien was named to the Atlantic 10 Swimming and Diving Academic All-Conference Team on Monday after a stellar year both in the water and in the classroom.
O’Brien, a sophomore from Edwards, Ill., grabbed the honor in his first year of eligibility. The Aerospace Engineering major was selected by the Atlantic 10 after claiming Bronze in the 200y Breaststroke at the 2018 Atlantic 10 Championship in February.
O’Brien also grabbed a relay bronze in the 400y Free Relay along with a pair of fifth place finishes in both the 100y Breaststroke and the 200y Individual Medley.
To be eligible for nomination for the Academic All-Conference Team, swimmers and divers must have a GPA of 3.0 or better (on a 4.0 scale) for their entire academic career. The teams were selected through voting conducted by the league’s Sports Information Directors.
