After clean sweep of UMass over the weekend and a thrilling 3-2 win on Wednesday over Bradley, the Billikens are riding high. The team has won six of its last seven games since the 15-game winning streak came to an end. Nick Reeser has risen to the top of the stat sheet with a .337 average for the year. The first baseman recorded a three-hit night on Wednesday against the Braves.
Saint Louis stands atop the A-10 standings this season with an 8-1 record as they have swept all but one series in the league this season. The team grabbed its 22nd win of the year thanks in large to a game-saving catch from Jake Garella for the final out of the game. With runners at first and second, the Billiken right fielder dove parallel to the ground to make a spectacular catch and preserve the win.
The Billikens continued to hit doubles at a high clip in the last game against Bradley as the team recorded three more in the game. Their total for the season now sits at 66 for the year which tops the Atlantic 10 in 2018.
Coming into play on Friday, the Billikens are riding a four-game win streak and have won their last five A-10 games.
SCOUTING THE FLYERS
Dayton has dropped six of its last seven contests including a one-run game to Toledo in Ohio on Tuesday. Overall, the Flyers have struggled in 2018, but have faced a demanding schedule including a pair against Arkansas in Fayetteville, and a single game against Virginia Tech.
The Flyers are still looking to put it all together consistently in a series this season, but have seen a few bright spots on a roster that features just five seniors.
Pat Meehan leads the team with a .311 batting average, six home runs and 11 doubles. The junior second baseman also ranks second on the team with eight stolen bases on the year.
Mitchell Garrity will represent a base-stealing threat for the Flyers as well. The center fielder leads the team with a .374 on-base percentage and has swiped 12 bags in 2018.
