SAINT LOUIS - Saint Louis Baseball announced the signing of three impact players for the 2019 campaign. Ryan Calhoun, Evan Floyd and Nick Marinac will join the team in midtown beginning next season as the late signing period drew to a close.
Calhoun, the only position player of the group, is a threat for both power and average and will have an opportunity to contribute immediately next season. A big first baseman out of Harford Community College, the soon-to-be Billiken is hitting .315 over the past two seasons with 16 home runs and a slugging percentage of .599.
Toeing the rubber for the Billikens next season will be a pair of transfers with big upside. Over the past two seasons, right-handed pitcher Nick Marinac has posted a 10-4 record and a 2.53 ERA. The newest Billiken hurler racked-up 83 strikeouts in 138.2 innings and allowed just 39 runs in that span.
Evan Floyd will join the Billikens next season after wrapping-up his sophomore campaign with Pensacola State College. The six-foot, right-handed pitcher has 12 starts this season, and outside of an outlier game against Chipola College, Floyd has been impressive in his outings this season with 54 strikeouts in 49 innings. He currently boasts an average of just shy of 10 strikeouts per nine innings.
Saint Louis Baseball is in the midst of an impressive season in 2018 as it has eclipsed the halfway point of the year. Through 31 games, the Billikens have a 22-9 overall record.
