ST. LOUIS -- Coming off a solid third-place finish in the Atlantic 10 Conference regular-season standings in 2017, the Saint Louis University volleyball team begins preseason training camp Wednesday, Aug. 8.

The Billikens return four starters and seven additional players from last year’s team. Five freshmen have joined four seniors, two juniors and five sophomores.

Leading the returning group are junior outside hitter Sien Gallop, sophomore outside hitter Maya Taylor and sophomore setter Kennedy Cordia.

Gallop, who led NCAA Division I in service aces per set (0.67) and total service aces (67), was selected to the 2017 Atlantic 10 All-Conference first team. Taylor was tabbed A-10 Rookie of the Year and was joined by Cordia on the league’s All-Rookie team.

The Billikens host Western Illinois in an exhibition match Aug. 14 prior to the annual Megan Boken Alumni Match Aug. 18 (click here for more information).

After opening the regular season at the Miami (Ohio) Invitational, SLU welcomes Kansas State, Marquette and Western Kentucky to Chaifetz Arena for the Marcia E. Hamilton Classic Aug. 31-Sept. 1. Two weeks later, Murray State, UMKC and UNLV come to Chaifetz Pavilion for the Billiken Invitational Sept. 14-15.

Highlighting the Billikens’ A-10 home schedule are clashes with defending regular-season and tournament champion VCU (Sept. 28), regular-season and tournament runner-up Dayton (Nov. 2) and fourth-place Duquesne (Nov. 9).
