ST. LOUIS – Junior forward Alyssa Seitzer, freshman midfielder Hannah Friedrich and freshman defender Isabel Burke of the Saint Louis women’s soccer team earned Atlantic 10 Conference weekly awards for helping lead the Billikens to a pair of victories over the weekend, the league office announced today.
Seitzer was selected co-Offensive Player of the Week, Friedrich was named Rookie of the Week, and Burke garnered the Defensive Player of the Week nod. The trio’s performances contributed to a 4-0 victory over Oral Roberts Sept. 7 and a 3-0 triumph over Missouri State Sept. 9.
Seitzer registered three goals and an assist in the two wins. She scored a career-high five points with two goals and an assist vs. Oral Roberts, and she tallied her team-leading fourth goal of the season vs. Missouri State.
Friedrich netted a goal in each game, and she added two assists in the Missouri State match to boost her team-leading total to three. She and Seitzer are tied for the SLU scoring lead with nine points apiece.
Burke logged all 90 minutes in both games and played a key role in a defensive effort that not only posted two shutouts, but also limited each opponent to two shots. She also recorded her first goal as a Billiken vs. Missouri State.
Saint Louis (4-2-1), which has won three of its last four games, concludes nonconference play this week. The Billikens travel to nationally ranked Kansas Friday (7 p.m.) and host Evansville Sunday (2 p.m.).
