ST. LOUIS -- Sophomore outside hitter Maya Taylor and freshman libero Cayce Chaykowsky of the Saint Louis volleyball team were named Atlantic 10 Conference Offensive Player of the Week and co-Rookie of the Week, respectively, for Sept. 24-30, the league office announced Monday.

 

Taylor produced a stellar .413 attack percentage in matches against VCU and Davidson, collecting 33 kills (4.71 per set) while committing just seven errors in 63 attempts. She added 14 digs (2.00 per set) and six service aces (0.86 per set).

 

Taylor began the weekend by hitting .444 (11-3-18) vs. VCU Sept. 28. In a victory over Davidson Sept. 30, she registered a career-high and SLU season-high 22 kills, hit .400 (22-4-45), served a career-high four aces (tying the team season high), and added nine digs.

 

Chaykowsky averaged a remarkable 6.71 digs per set in the two contests. She tallied 17 digs vs. VCU and followed with a career-high and Billiken season-high 30 digs in the Davidson match. Chaykowsky added two service aces and six assists.

 

Taylor ranks second in the A-10 in kills per set (4.16) and points per set (4.50). Chaykowsky is fifth in the conference in digs per set (4.38).

 

The Billikens are on the road for their next two matches, taking on La Salle Friday, Oct. 5, and Duquesne Sunday, Oct. 7.
