St. Louis, Mo. (Hermann Stadium)
Saint Louis freshman John Klein scored two goals and assisted on another as the Billikens rallied for a 4-2 victory over La Salle on Saturday night in Atlantic 10 Conference men's soccer action at Hermann Stadium.
It was the first A-10 victory for the Billikens, who improve to 4-2-4 overall and 1-1-1 in A-10 play. La Salle dips to 2-8-1 and 0-2-1 in the league.
Both of Klein's goals were equalizers. He scored in the 21st minute after La Salle went on top early. La Salle had a 2-1 advantage before Klein tallied again in the 69th minute to make it a 2-2 game.
Klein set up Leo Novaes' game-winning goal in the 83rd minute. Klein sent the pass to Novaes, who tucked one in just inside the post for the eventual game-winner.
Brandon Santel scored in the final minute for a key insurance marker.
Klein and Novaes are now tied for the team goals led with five each.
Seth Stiebel earned the win in goal after coming on at halftime. He made three saves for the Billikens, and the SLU defense fought off a rare indirect free kick in the box by La Salle.
Saint Louis is back in action on Wednesday night when VCU comes to town. Kickoff at Hermann Stadium is slated for 7 p.m.
