Claire Hellmann scored her first career goal Sunday, but Saint Louis fell to host Indiana 3-1 in nonconference field hockey action at the IU Field Hockey Complex in Bloomington, Indiana.

Saint Louis falls to 3-8 with the loss, while Indiana improves to 4-9.

The Hoosiers tallied a pair of first-half goals and took a 2-0 lead into halftime.

The second half was even between the two squads. Both teams mustered six shots, had two penalty corners, and each scored a goal. Indiana struck first in the second session to make it 3-0 IU.

Hellmann scored the Billikens' tally in the 69th minute. She tipped one over the IU keeper for the first goal of her career. Carly Kissinger assisted on the play to tie her for second for the team scoring lead with seven points (1G, 5A).

Saint Louis is back in action next Friday when it hosts Miami (Ohio) at Sportport International. Game time is set for 4:30 p.m.
