A LOOK AT THE BILLIKENS

• Saint Louis (2-16, 1-5) concludes the first half of the 14-match Atlantic 10 Conference schedule and begins the second this weekend. Up first is Rhode Island (7-10, 1-4) Friday at 7 p.m., followed by Fordham (9-9, 2-3) Sunday at 1 p.m.
Maya Taylor continues to hold second place in the A-10 in kills per set (4.09) and points per set (4.42), ranking 42nd and 60th, respectively, in the nation.
Lauren Mershon leads the team in blocks per set (0.72).
Sara Daniels is close behind Mershon with 0.71 blocks per set. Daniels tallied a career-high five blocks last Sunday at Duquesne.
Cayce Chaykowsky turns in a team-high 4.51 digs per set, good for third in the A-10 and 97th in the nation. Chaykowsky averaged 5.38 digs over eight sets in matches at La Salle and Duquesne last weekend.
Kennedy Cordia directs the attack with 9.14 assists per set, moving up one spot to fourth in the A-10, and adds 2.62 digs per set.
Giovanna Charles is second on the team with 2.74 kills per set. Charles collected a career- and match-high 22 kills – a total that also equaled the SLU season high – and hit .353 at La Salle last Friday.
Katia Haak tied her career high of 12 digs at La Salle, while Isabelle Walsh recorded a career-high five blocks at Duquesne.
Sien Gallop registered a season-best 15 digs in the Duquesne match.

A LOOK AT RHODE ISLAND

• The Rams are coming off a 3-2 loss at George Mason, their second five-set defeat in A-10 play. Rhode Island’s only conference victory was a 3-0 triumph over Duquesne.
• Redshirt-sophomore OH Natale Zanellato ranks sixth in the A-10 with 3.09 kills per set. Sophomore OH Claire Chaplinsky is 11th with 2.63 kills per set.
• Freshman MB Mariah Paulette leads the Rams with a .266 attack percentage.
• Senior L Olivia Budinich is URI’s digs leader with 4.05 per set, good for eighth in the league.
• Junior MB Jenna McGuire is ninth in the A-10 with 0.95 blocks per set.
• Rhode Island reached the semifinals of the 2017 A-10 Championship.

A LOOK AT FORDHAM
• The Rams play at Dayton Friday night before coming to St. Louis.
• Fordham and Saint Louis had a common nonconference opponent, UNLV. Both teams (Fordham 3-1, SLU 3-0) fell to the Rebels.
• The Rams’ 3-1 victory at George Washington last Saturday snapped a three-match losing streak. Fordham defeated Rhode Island 3-2 in the A-10 opener.
• Among Fordham’s returning players are junior RS Olivia Fairchild, a 2017 second-team All-Conference selection, and sophomore OH McKenna Lahr, who made last year’s A-10 All-Rookie team.
• Two Fordham players are among the league’s top 10 in kills per set – junior OH Kaitlin Morley (fifth, 3.45) and Lahr (seventh, 2.93).
• Freshman MB Claire O’Neil has a team-high .280 attack percentage.
• Junior L Morgan Williams ranks seventh in the A-10 with 4.26 digs per set.
• Junior MB Elise Benjamin is second in the conference with 1.45 blocks per set. Benjamin and senior MH Olivia LaPorta (0.92 bps) have led Fordham to the A-10’s No. 3 spot in team blocks (2.19 per set).
