ST. LOUIS -- Saint Louis University softball placed 11 student-athletes on the 2017-18 Easton All-America Scholar-Athlete list compiled by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. The award is bestowed upon players who achieve at least a 3.5 grade point average during an entire academic year.
The Billikens’ All-America Scholar-Athletes are Kaylyn Breitbach, Kaylea Chappelle, Alyssa Chavez, Krystina Kernich, Kat Lane, Mackenzie Lawson, Megan LoBianco, Lauren Lomax, Kallen Loveless, Allie Macfarlane and Sadie Wise. Lawson, Loveless and Macfarlane earned All-America Scholar-Athlete recognition for a third time, while Breitbach, Chappelle, Kernich and LoBianco collected the honor for a second time.
SLU’s 69-percent placement rate (11 of 16) on the All-America Scholar-Athlete list is the highest in the Atlantic 10 Conference. Additionally, the Billikens led the A-10 with a 16th-place finish on the NCAA Division I team GPA list (3.552) for 2017-18.
“Once again, Billiken softball student-athletes have demonstrated their commitment to embracing the exceptional educational opportunity offered at Saint Louis University,” head coach Christy Connoyer said. “Achieving excellence in the classroom, as well as on the field, is a high priority for them from day one. I am very proud of their consistently high academic success.”
