MECHANICSVILLE, Va. – The Saint Louis cross country teams registered strong team finishes at the 2018 Atlantic 10 Conference Cross Country Championships, which were held Saturday in Mechanicsville, Virginia.

The men's team, led by Manuel de Backer's sixth-place individual finish, placed third overall. That matched the program's best-ever finish. The women's team registered a fifth-place finish, their best showing at the A-10s since 2013.

De Backer, who entered the meet as the defending champion, garnered All-Conference honors for the third time in his career with the sixth-place finish. Matt Prest also drew All-Conference honors as he finished 15th overall. Freshman Adam Walker earned All-Rookie team honors.

On the women's side, Megan Kress led the Billikens with a 22nd-place finish. Hannah Pierson, Anna Schmitz and Courtney Link all finished in the top 40 for SLU.

The Billikens' women's team showed a major improvement from last season when they finished 11th in the meet.

Saint Louis in action again Friday, Nov. 9, for the NCAA Midwest Regional in Peoria, Illinois.
