GENEVA, Ohio -- Saint Louis swimmers enjoyed considerable success at the Atlantic 10 Classic, held Oct. 27-28 at SPIRE Institute.


The Billiken women defeated La Salle 200-151 and St. Bonaventure 189-163. SLU was defeated 219-133 by Duquesne and 206-144 by George Mason.


On the men’s side, Saint Louis topped St. Bonaventure 216-132 while falling to La Salle 179-167 and George Mason 195-156.


The Billiken men turned in 18 top-3 finishes, including a victory by Grant Streid in the 100 fly (50.50) and two relay triumphs. The 400 medley relay team of T.J. Halliburton, Justin Mars, Streid and Isaiah Williams won in 3:23.00, while Halliburton, Mars, Janssen Gamilla and Collin O’Brien captured the 200 medley relay in 1:32.48.


O’Brien registered runner-up finishes in the 200 IM (1:54.52) and 200 breast (2:07.12). Also finishing second were Mars in the 100 breast (57.17), Williams in the 200 free (1:43.42), Gamilla in the 100 fly (50.62) and the 400 free relay team of Streid, Scott Street, O’Brien and Williams (3:08.06).


Third-place performers were Williams in the 400 IM (4:09.10) and 200 fly (1:53.14), Tyler Guist in the 500 free (4:45.22), Mars in the 50 free (21.45), Streid in the 100 free (46.90), Gamilla in the 100 back (50.97), Street in the 1650 free (16:43.70), Halliburton in the 200 back (1:51.87), and the 200 free relay team of Streid, Mars, O’Brien and Guist (1:24.88).


Savannah Nichols led the Saint Louis women with a win in the 200 fly (2:06.93) and a second-place effort in the 100 fly (57.79). Emily Smith placed second in the 200 IM (2:10.00) and third in the 200 back (2:08.56).


Additional runner-up performances were achieved by Katie Schmude in the 400 IM (4:35.86), Natalie Daniel in the 200 free (1:56.64), and the 400 free relay squad of Bri Hodgkins, Daniel, Mary First and Olivia Tate (3:36.03).


Claire Koh placed third in the 1650 free (17:56.73). First, Daniel, Tate and Claire Brewer were third in the 200 free relay (1:39.11).


The Billikens host Truman State and Lindenwood-Belleville Saturday, Nov. 3, at Simon Rec Center. The meet begins at 2 p.m.
