PEORIA, Ill. – Saint Louis' cross country squads displayed improvement over last year's team results at the NCAA Midwest Regional, held Friday in Peoria, Illinois.

The men's team finished 14th overall, up from the team's 21st-place showing a year ago. The women placed in 24th position, bettering their 26th-place finish last year.

Leading the way for the men's team was Ben Naeger, who placed 39th overall with a time of 31:55.8. Manuel de Backer registered a 40th-place time of 31:58.1. Matt Prest, who like de Backer was an A-10 All-Conference performer this year, finished 52nd in a time of 32:09.7.

On the women's side, Megan Kress again paced the Bills and placed 87th with a time of 21:59.3. Hannah Pierson was not far behind in 95th, crossing the line in 22:03.3. Courtney Link rounded out SLU's top three with a 111th-place time of 22:15.4.

The Billikens now set their sights on the indoor track and field campaign, which begins next month.
