-- Saint Louis enters Wednesday’s game at Southern Illinois with a 6-1 record.
-- The Billikens are coming off a thrilling 64-52 victory over Butler on Saturday afternoon. SLU played a lock-down defense, allowing the Bulldogs to shoot just 28.1percent from the field en route to a season-low 52 points.
-- Senior guard Javon Bess, who was a main contributor to the Bills’ defensive effort against Butler, led SLU with 18 points. For the year, he leads the Billikens in scoring with 14.6 ppg.
-- Senior guard Tramaine Isabell Jr. is second on the team in scoring (12.8 ppg) and assists (17). He is 39 point shy of 1,000 for his career.
--Sophomore guard Jordan Goodwin shoots 45.8 percent from the floor and averages 10.6 ppg. He has dished out a team-high 23 assists and is tied for the team lead with 11 steals.
-- Freshman forward Carte’Are Gordon has hit 57.1 percent of his shots from the field and contributes 8.2 ppg. Senior forward D.J. Foreman scores 7.5 ppg.
-- Sophomore forward Hasahn French leads the team in rebounding (7.5 rpg). He and Gordon are tied for the team lead with 14 blocked shots.
-- Saint Louis is second in the A-10 in defense, yielding 61.9 ppg.
-- The Billikens were picked to win the Atlantic 10 Conference via a vote by A-10 coaches and media. The Bills claimed 15 of the 26 first-place votes to finish ahead of Saint Joseph’s (second) and Davidson (third).
-- Up next, the Billikens return to Chaifetz Arena to host Oregon State on Sunday, Dec. 9. Tipoff is 2:30 p.m., and the game will be televised on ESPNU.
ABOUT THE SALUKIS
-- Southern Illinois enters Wednesday’s game 5-3 overall. The Salukis have reeled off three consecutive wins against Tulsa, Colorado State and SIUE.
-- Senior guard Armon Fletcher leads five Salukis in double figures with 13.6 ppg.
-- Senior guard Marcus Bartley played two seasons at SLU before transferring to SIU.
-- The Salukis are among the Missouri Valley Conference leaders in assists per game, field-goal percentage and 3-point field-goal percentage.
