ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis University head women’s soccer coach Katie Shields has announced the addition of 5-foot-9 defender Anna Lawler (Fenton, Mo./Rockwood Summit H.S.) to the Billikens’ roster. Lawler, who played at Oklahoma State in 2018, will have four years of eligibility beginning in the fall of 2019.
“We are thrilled to welcome Anna Lawler back home to St. Louis and into our Billiken Women’s Soccer Family,” Shields said. “During her high school career at Rockwood Summit and club years at St. Louis Scott Gallagher, Anna established herself as one of the best players in the country. We look forward to adding her tremendous work ethic, character and ability to our already talented roster for the 2019 season.”
Lawler was a three-time All-American, a three-time All-State performer, the 2016 and 2018 Missouri Gatorade Player of the Year, and the 2016 and 2018 St. Louis Post-Dispatch All-Metro Player of the Year at Rockwood Summit. She registered 31 goals and 36 assists during her prep career. As a senior, Lawler anchored a defense that shut out the Falcons’ last 10 opponents and helped lead Rockwood Summit to the Class 3A state title.
Lawler was considered the top player in the Heartland Region by TopDrawerSoccer.com, and she earned TDS.com national ratings of No. 28 overall and No. 6 among defenders. She was a standout for St. Louis Scott Gallagher ECNL for several years, and she has participated in the U.S. Girls National Team Camp.
Lawler was named to the Girls Best XI at the 2013 id2 Training Camp. She also earned a spot on the TeamSnap Missouri State Stars Team twice.
