Saint Louis sophomore outside hitter Maya Taylor will be competing in tryouts for the USA Women’s National Team March 1-3 in Colorado Springs, Colo.

The tryout will include 218 of the top players in the country. The participants will be vying for a spot on the USA Women’s Senior National Team and the USA Women’s Collegiate National Team.

Taylor won A-10 Rookie of the Year as a freshman in 2017, and she earned first-team All-Conference honors this past season. Taylor was also named to the Atlantic 10 All-Tournament team.

“We are very excited for this opportunity for Maya,” head coach Kent Miller said. “She has grown significantly as a player, a person and a leader here at Saint Louis University. Maya has aspirations to play professionally after college and this is a great step to help her reach that goal.”

Taylor was named a team captain for the 2018 season. She led the Billikens with 4.11 kills per set and 4.45 points per set.

“Our team works together to provide a competitive environment that allows for players to excel,” Miller said. “Maya has benefitted from this environment and the support of her teammates and staff. We look forward to her continued success.”
