BILLIKEN OUTLOOK

Saint Louis enters their first mid-week series of the season with a 6-7 record. They took the series finale against Western Illinois on Sunday 8-2, behind three home runs. Jake Garella, Ben Livorsi and Shane Benes all hit their first of the year.

Livorsi leads the team with a .326 batting average, and with his nine walks, he is tops on the team with a .444 on-base percentage.

Garella has a team-leading 16 hits, five going for doubles.

Benes drove in his tenth RBI of the season with his solo shot to centerfield on Sunday. He’s also tied for the team lead in doubles with five.

The Billikens will send Drew Reveno to the mound on Tuesday. He carries an 0-0 record with a 1.69 ERA in 10.2 innings pitched. He has struck out 16 opposing batters.

Luke Matheny will start for the Billikens on Wednesday. He’s thrown in three games for the team this season, earning the start in one of them. Matheny is riding a 5.40 ERA with ten strikeouts in 11.0 innings pitched.

SCOUTING THE BLUEJAYS

Creighton begins their set against the Billikens with a 5-3 record. Due to weather, the last game their team has played was a doubleheader on March 1. They lost both games to Wichita State.

The Bluejays are led at the plate by senior Jack Strunc. The righty infielder is has 15 hits on the season, good enough for a .417 batting average. He has six doubles and seven RBIs in the team’s eight games.

Junior Parker Upton is hitting for a .357 average with two home runs and five RBIs. The switch-hitting outfielder has scored a team-leading 12 runs and is tied with two other teammates with three stolen bases.

Jake Holton leads the team with four homer runs on the season. The junior infielder is hitting for a .290 average with 12 RBIs.

On the mound for Creighton, it’s projected that Mitch Ragan will get the start on Tuesday. He’s 2-0 with a 5.40 ERA on the season. Ragan’s made three starts, lasting 18.1 innings and striking out 19 batters.

It will be freshman Dylan Trebake on the bump for Wednesday afternoon’s game. The righty has pitched three innings in 2019, allowing one hit and striking out two.
