Saint Louis kicks off its 2019 home schedule with a flurry of activity at the Billiken Sports Center.

The Billikens get an early start on the weekend with two games on Thursday, March 14. Loyola Chicago is the opponent at 1 p.m., followed by Northern Illinois at 3:30 p.m.

The SLU-Northern Illinois contest is the first game of the Billiken Spring Tournament, which continues through Sunday. Joining the Billikens and Huskies are Detroit Mercy, Northern Colorado, Omaha and Southeast Missouri State. Click on a team’s name to access its softball home page.

Four Billikens begin the week battling for the team batting average lead. Kat Lane tops the chart at .357, followed by Maria Connell (.333), Megan LoBianco (.333) and Sadie Wise (.327).

Wise has been SLU’s hottest hitter of late, going 10-for-20 (.500) over her last six games. Also stepping up their offensive production are LoBianco, 6-for-13 (.462) last four games; Connell, 9-for-20 (.450) last six games; Gabbie Kowalik, 8-for-20 (.400) last six games; and Mackenzie Lawson, 4-for-11 (.364) last three games.

Other category leaders for Saint Louis are Wise (17 hits, seven RBIs, nine walks, 22 total bases, .426 on-base percentage); Connell (.452 slugging percentage); Connell and Wise (five doubles); Kristi Stevenson (two home runs); and Wise and Kowalik (eight runs).


Saint Louis travels to Springfield to face Missouri State Wednesday, March 20, at 4 p.m.
