ST. LOUIS – The Saint Louis University men's track and field squad won the Billiken Invitational and the women placed second in the annual meet, held this weekend at the SLU Medical Center Stadium.

Numerous Billikens posted first-place finishes in the meet. On the men's side, Brett Kowalczyk won the hammer throw (49.26 meters) and shot put (15.29 meters), Victor Wiski won the shot put (40.48 meters), and Alex Eldridge won the javelin (52.70 meters).
Alex Oleson won the high jump with a mark of 1.96 meters, while Jake Johnson took home the individual title in the long jump (6.78 meters). Ethan Erusha (13.76 meters) was the winner in the triple jump.
Manuel de Backer won the 5,000 meters, crossing the line in 14:51.39. Matt Prest finished first in the 1,500 meters with a time of 3:53.97. Myles Gascon crossed first in the 100 meters (10.88), while Aaron Dugan was the top finisher in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:40.61.
Alia Hayes got it started for the women's team with a first-place showing in the hammer with a mark of 41.89 meters. Sarah Reich won the javelin with a SLU Medical Center Stadium record heave of 45.10 meters. Katie Wissing was the winner in the triple jump (12.07 meters) and long jump (5.55 meters). Megan Kress won 5,000 meters with a time of 17:14.23.
The Billikens' 4x100-meter relay team of Jessica Moore, Ann Harlos, Avery Pacella and Bailey Hasken finished first. Harlos took home the individual title in the 100-meter hurdles (14.29) and 400-meter hurdles (1:02.00).
Pacella was the winner in the 400 meters, crossing in 56.29. Megan Ng placed first in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 12:33.31.
The Billikens are in action next weekend at the Joe Walker Invitational at Ole Miss.
