ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis men’s soccer remains unbeaten in its spring exhibition campaign heading into this weekend’s play that will see the Billikens host Columbia College and Lewis and Clark Community College at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Sunday at Hermann Stadium.

Saint Louis has been playing split-squad doubleheaders in its three spring dates thus far and are 5-0-1 in those six matches. The Billikens have outscored their opponents 12-2 and have been able to utilize all players on their roster.

"All of our players and staff look forward to competing each weekend and testing ourselves,” SLU head coach Kevin Kalish said. “When scheduling for this spring, we decided it was important for each player in the program to receive 90 minutes. As part of our overall evaluation process and evolution of the program, it was very important to allow every player an opportunity to grow, learn and develop as a player.”

SLU began the spring season in late March with wins against Rockhurst (1-0), St. Louis Community College (1-0), Wright State (6-0) and East Central Community College (2-1). Last weekend, the Billikens played to a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Xavier and defeated Jefferson College 1-0.

Six different Billikens have scored goals so far this spring. Sean Armistead leads the way with three goals, while Ben Huels, John Klein and Patrick Wilkinson have tallied twice apiece.

“We are pleased with the overall effort and attitude that the players have shown since the start of the spring semester,” Kalish said. “The team's commitment to improve and consistently hold each other accountable to higher standards is encouraging to see. We discussed improving our performance culture and finding marginal gains that can help us improve individually and collectively. Whether it has been their growth in the weight room or focusing on their individual development plans, there has been buy-in to get better each day. I personally love working with this group of players because they are all hungry to learn and improve. It is motivating for everyone involved in the program.”

Following Sunday’s two games, the Billikens conclude the exhibition campaign with their lone road tilt of the spring season at Missouri State on Saturday, April 27, at 5 p.m.

The 2019 fall schedule will be released in the coming weeks.
