OXFORD, Miss. – Saint Louis competed in the Joe Walker Invitational at the University of Mississippi this weekend. Due to weather, the meet was called early on Saturday afternoon, just after the 4x100-meter relay.
The Billikens set numerous PRs and had several top-five finishes during the weather-shortened meet. Alex Eldridge won the javelin with a distance of 171-9. Alex Oleson finished in a three-way tie for first in the high jump with a height of 6-2.75. Dorrian Gordon placed second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:39.06, a SLU seasonal best.
Brett Kowalczyk posted the Billikens' top mark this season in the hammer throw, tossing 166-10. The men's 4x100-meter relay registered the best time of the season, finishing in 42.95.
Finishing behind Eldridge in the javelin were Trevor Jones (second, 166-1), Jaryn Blackshear-Bryant (third, 158-9) and Victor Wiski (fifth, 155-10).
Alia Hayes finished second in the shot put with a distance of 39-10. Sarah Reich, the reigning A-10 Field Performer of the Week, was second in the javelin with a throw of 142-2.
Natalie Davis turned in a fourth-place finish in the 5,000 meters with a time of 18:46.95. Katie Wissing was fifth in the triple jump, reaching 38-2.75.
Saint Louis competes next weekend at the Bryan Clay Invitational (Azuza, Calif.) and Tom Botts Invitational (Columbia, Mo.).
