BRONX, N.Y. – No. 7-seed Saint Louis dropped its opening game of the 2019 Atlantic 10 Conference Baseball Championship 2-0 against second-seeded Davidson Wednesday at Fordham's Houlihan Park.

Saint Louis slips to 25-29 with the loss and will play No. 6 Rhode Island tonight in an elimination game at approximately 7:30 p.m. (CT). Earlier today, Rhody dropped a 5-2 decision against Dayton.

SLU's Jackson Wark was tagged with the loss despite an effective outing. He went five innings and allowed two runs on four hits.

He ran into trouble in the fourth. All with two outs, Davidson recorded two walks and a pair of singles – its first hits of the game – to go up 1-0. In the next inning, Davidson's Eric Jones hit a solo shot to right to give the Wildcats the 2-0 advantage.

The Billikens managed six hits on the day, including two off the bat of senior third baseman Shane Benes, but they were unable to push any runs across off of Davidson All-Conference pitcher Casey Sutherland. Gabe Levy pitched a scoreless ninth inning for the save.

Jake Garella (1-3) extended his hitting streak to 12 games and his on-base streak to 21.

The Billikens' Drew Reveno did not allow a run in three innings of relief. He struck out four and did not issue a walk.

Connor Lehmann is scheduled to take the bump for the Billikens tonight against Rhode Island.
