Saint Louis head baseball coach Darin Hendrickson announced today that two transfers and one high school graduate have joined the Billikens' roster.
Spencer Bloom is a corner infielder and catcher transferring from North Central Texas College (Gainesville, Texas). In 51 games in 2019, Bloom hit for a .323 average with four home runs, 36 RBIs, 31 runs and nine stolen bases.
“Bloom is a versatile athletic bat who can catch and play corner infield,” Hendrickson said. “He will provide experienced pop with an above average approach. Bloom is a solid 4.0 student who will be a big addition to our lineup.”
Matthew Boyer is a RHP from Edwardsville High School in Edwardsville, Ill. He made 15 in starts in 2019, including two complete games and a 10-1 record. Boyer threw for a 2.21 ERA and had 87 strikeouts in 63.1 innings pitched. Opponents hit .193 against him.
“Boyer is an upper 80’s RHP who is just taking off,” Hendrickson said. “He has great downhill plane to his fastball and a slider that will allow him compete for a starting role as a freshman.”
Trevor Harris is a LHP transferring from Saddleback College in Mission Viejo, Calif. He threw 20 innings in his sophomore season, going 2-0 with a 1.35 ERA and eight strikeouts. Harris went to Saddleback from Baylor University where he was a part of the Bears program in 2017.
“Harris is a Baylor bounce-back who will compete for a starting rotation spot as a solid LHP,” Hendrickson said. “He is a strike thrower with a change up and 12/6 curve ball. The West Lake, Texas product is expected to provide a big role for us as a junior LHP.”
Hendrickson wrapped up the announcement by saying, “The three men will join a solid fall class of highly ranked recruits.”
The fall class includes Marius Balandis, Lukas Barry, Colin Bergmann, Drew Buhr, Brendan Carrion, Will Clark, Nate Hardman, Kirby Jenkins, Khyle Radcliffe and Cole Smith.
