ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis University women’s basketball will welcome approximately 3,000 local elementary and middle-school students to Chaifetz Arena for the seventh annual Education Day field trip Wednesday, Jan. 11. The Billikens host Atlantic 10 Conference rival St. Bonaventure in a game that begins at 11 a.m.

This year’s educational emphasis is on the importance of living a healthy lifestyle. Pregame activities for the students include opportunities to run agility courses and participate in basketball shooting contests. SLU sports performance staff members will be on hand to promote exercise and nutrition. In addition, poster making, face painting and balloon making will be featured.

“Education Day is something our players and I look forward to every year,” head coach Lisa Stone said. “One of the core objectives of our athletics department is creating a strong bond with the community, and what better way to do that than by connecting with young people.

“We appreciate our local schools responding so positively to our invitation year after year,” Stone said. “I’m sure the students will enjoy coming to Chaifetz Arena and learning more about healthy living, and we certainly will enjoy having their support as we take on St. Bonaventure.”
