ST. LOUIS - The Saint Louis baseball team tallied 15 total hits (eight for extra bases) in an 11-1 win over the visiting Fordham Rams. Junior James Norwood (7-1) gets the win. He is now tied for 10th on the SLU single season wins list. With the victory, the Billikens rise to 29-18 overall and 15-6 in conference play.
The Saint Louis offense scored double-digit runs for the second consecutive game, and the 10th time this season.
Shortstop Alec Solé continued his power surge, going 3-4 with a triple, two runs scored and four RBI against the Rams.
Michael Bozarth was active on the basepaths, swiping a pair of bags to reach 17 for the season. He needs one more to crack SLU's single season top 20.
Norwood was effective as a starting pitcher, throwing 6.1 IP with six hits and one strikeout. He did not allow a run to score and lowered his season ERA to 2.26.
The Billikens and Rams will meet tomorrow, May 10 at 2 p.m. for game two of the three-game series. Before first pitch, the Saint Louis Department of Athletics will honor the 2014 senior class of Danny Brennan, A.J. VanderVorste and Brett Vanover. Senior day festivities will begin at about 1:45.
