SAINT LOUIS – [BOX SCORE] Saint Louis University Baseball put together another double-digit run total game on Saturday. The Billikens plated 17 runs and a season-high 20 hits as they grabbed a series sweep over Dayton 17-4.

Saint Louis (25-9, 11-1 A-10) began with a pair of runs in the first as Alex King continued his Ohio assault on the baseball. The shortstop hit his seventh home run of the season with one out to give the Billikens a 1-0 lead. King has hit a home run in all three games of the series against the Flyers.

After Parker Sniatynski singled and recorded his 14th stolen base of the season, Nick Reeser provided the second run of the game. The first baseman singled to center field and gave the Billikens a 2-0 lead.

The Billikens plated another run in the top of the second to extend the lead to 3-0 as James Morisano continued a big weekend. The senior backstop singled and scored, the first of his three hits on the day.

The Flyers responded in the bottom of the second. Three hits and a walk led to two Dayton runs and an early call to the Bullpen for the Billikens. Charlie Sheehan entered with runners at first and second, with two runs already home, and got the final out on the first batter he faced to end the threat.

Sheehan picked-up the win on Saturday as he tossed one of the best games of his season. In the three and a third innings he recorded, the right-handed pitcher racked-up seven strikeouts, a career-high.

Saint Louis put together a six-run inning in the third as two big hits were responsible for the offensive outburst. A hit batsman, a walk and an infield error loaded the bases for Reeser with no outs. The senior launched a grand slam and extended the lead to 7-2.

Morisano followed with a single, and after an Aaron Case double put runners at second and third, King singled-home two more runs as the Billikens led 9-2 after three.

Extra-base hits have been a strong suit for Saint Louis all season and Saturday was no exception. Sniatynski tripled to lead-off the sixth, but two consecutive outs gave Reeser another RBI opportunity. Once again, he was up to the task. The Lakewood, Calif. native singled to left field, which scored Sniatynski and put the 10th run on the board for the Billikens. Reeser ended the day with a career-high seven RBI.

The Billikens recorded another two runs in the seventh, three in the eighth, and two more in the ninth as they rolled to their 11th win and third sweep in the Atlantic 10 in 2018.

As a whole, Saint Louis recorded two doubles, two triples and two home runs on the day. Individually, four Billikens recorded three hits. In addition to Sniatynski, Reeser and Morisano, Ryan Hernandez finished with three base knocks. It was the first three-hit game in Hernandez’s career.

With the victory, Saint Louis will wrap-up its five-game road swing on Tuesday and Wednesday at Southeast Missouri State and SIUE respectively.
