Saint Louis saw a 2-1 ninth inning lead slip away on Friday night, falling to Stetson 3-2 in 14 innings. The Hatters scored one in the ninth, sending the contest into extras. They then used walk-off single by Eric Foggos to defeat the Billikens 3-2.
Cody Luther continued his successful start to the season, throwing 5.0 innings, allowing four hits and one run while striking out seven Stetson batters.
Charlie Sheehan threw a nearly perfect 1.2 innings, striking out four of the seven hitters he faced. He kept his ERA at 0.00 in 6.1 innings for the season.
Colin Townsend shut down Stetson in extra innings, throwing 3.1 innings, allowing one unearned run. He gave up two hits and struck out four.
The Billikens scattered seven hits in the 14-inning affair, two of them by third baseman Zach Frieling. One of his hits was the first home run of the year for Saint Louis in the top of the fourth inning.
The team will turn to Drew Reveno on Saturday afternoon, when they take on Sacred Heart University at 12 p.m. (CT).
