Saint Louis dropped both games of the doubleheader against Western Illinois on Friday. The Billikens fell 0-3 in game one and 4-5 in game two.
Javin Drake threw 8.0 innings of six hit, 10 strikeout ball for the Leathernecks in game one. He tossed 118 pitches on the afternoon.
Game one’s starter Connor Lehmann settled down after the first two innings, and he finished with a line of 6.0 innings pitched, three hits, one earned run and nine strikeouts.
The Billikens were able to get the bats going in game two, including three hits by junior Jake Garella. He finished the day 3-5 with one run scored.
Corrigan Bartlett also had a multi-hit game, going 2-2 with two RBIs, one run and two walks.
Leathernecks reliever Jace Warkentien earned the save in both games of the double header. He threw nine pitches in game one and then needed 18 to get the save in game two.
Saint Louis is back in action on Sunday, March 10 with a 12:00 p.m. game against Western Illinois. The game will take place at Roy E. Lee Field on SIUE’s campus.
