ST. LOUIS - A second-half Saint Louis rally fell short Saturday in a 66-55 defeat against No. 23 Xavier at Chaifetz Arena.

SLU ends the regular season 12-18 overall and 6-10 in the A-10. The Billikens will be the No. 11 seed in the A-10 Tournament. The opponent and time of Tuesday's opponent will be released by the league office momentarily. Xavier has wrapped up the A-10 regular-season championship and improves to 24-6, 15-1 in the A-10.

Xavier led by 14 in the first half and by as much as nine in the second half before the Billikens rallied. SLU pulled to withing four on several occasions in the second half, and a Jordair Jett traditional 3-point play brought the Bills to within three with 9:44 remaining, but Xavier pulled away for the victory.

The Billikens were led by Brian Conklin's 14 points, while Mike McCall added 13. Dwayne Evans led the Bills with nine rebounds and added six point.

Tu Holloway scored 25 points as Xavier won it's ninth straight. Mark Lyons had 16 points and Kenny Frease added 10 points and 12 rebounds for the Musketeers

Holloway got going early, hitting a 3-pointer 20 seconds into the contest and following with a bucket inside as the Musketeers jumped out to a 7-0 advantage.

Saint Louis started out cold, hitting just two of its first 18 shots. But Xavier couldn't capitalize, making only nine field goals in the first half.

After McLean drained two free throws to make it 27-13 with 3:43 left in the half, the Billikens went on an 8-2 run to close the gap to six points. Holloway hit two free throws with 1:06 left in the half to push the margin to 31-21 at the break.
