PHILADELPHIA – No. 13 Saint Louis received a game-high 17 points from senior forward Rob Loe, and the Billikens recorded their school-record 15th victory in a row with a 65-49 victory at Saint Joseph’s Wednesday.

The win improves the Billikens’ record to 21-2 overall and 8-0 in the Atlantic 10 Conference. SLU continues its best-ever start to a season. SJU, who came into tonight having won 8 of its last 10, dips to 15-7 overall and 5-3 in the A-10.

Loe, who was coming off a career-high 23 points in the Billikens’ last outing against George Mason, was 4-of-7 from the field (3-of-5 from 3-point range) and hit all six of his free throws.

Senior guard Jordair Jett scored 10 points and distributed seven assists, while senior guard Mike McCall Jr. and sophomore guard Austin McBroom chipped in nine points apiece. Senior forward Dwayne Evans scored eight points. Evans and senior forward Jake Barnett pulled down a team-high seven rebounds.

Saint Louis held Hawks leading scorer Langston Galloway to six points. The Hawks shot 31.9 percent from field and was just 1-of-15 from long range.

“We were exceptional defensively tonight,” SLU head coach Jim Crews said. “We played great team defense. Our guys did a great job anticipating things and disrupting their flow. We played extremely well. I thought we also played equally as well on offense as we did on defense.”

Saint Joseph’s scored the first five points of the game before Saint Louis would go on a 9-0 run to gain a lead it would not relinquish.

The Billikens closed the first half on a 10-2 run and took a 35-22 advantage into halftime.

In the second half, Jett converted a traditional 3-point play to put the Billikens ahead 39-24 with 18:29 to go.

The Hawks pulled to within seven at 45-38 with just under 10 minutes to play, but Loe answered with a dunk. The Billikens would later go on a 12-2 run to take command, and they never looked back while cruising to the 16-point victory.

SLU remains in Philadelphia to face La Salle Saturday in a 4 p.m. (CT) tip at Tom Gola Arena. The game will be televised on ESPN2.
