FAIRFAX, Va. – Jordair Jett scored 24 of his team-high 25 points in the second half and overtime to help Saint Louis defeat George Mason 89-85 Wednesday in Atlantic 10 Conference play at the Patriot Center.
It was the 18th win in a row for the Billikens, who improve to 24-2 overall and 11-0 in the A-10. SLU also improved its road record to 10-0.
In addition, the win was the 90th in the careers of SLU’s five seniors, making them the program’s all-time winningest class.
George Mason nearly won it in regulation when Jalen Jenkins drained a pair of free throws with five seconds left to put George Mason up one. But the Billikens put the ball in the hands of Jett, who drove to the hole and was fouled with 1.1 seconds remaining. He hit one of his two free throws to send the game into OT.
In the extra session, Rob Loe hit consecutive 3-pointers to give the Billikens a lead with 3:10 remaining. They wouldn’t relinquish that advantage the rest of the way, and hung on to post their second overtime win of the season against the Patriots (9-17, 2-10 A-10).
Jett’s 25 points came on 9-of-16 shooting from the field, which included one trey. He also dished out a game-high eight assists and collected eight rebounds.
Jake Barnett registered a SLU career-high 14 points thanks to four 3-pointers, including a key trey late in regulation that gave the Billikens a two-point lead.
Loe was also clutch from 3-point range, hitting four in the contest to help account for his 13 points. Loe also dished out five assists.
Mike McCall Jr., who opened the game with two-straight 3-pointers, finished with 16 points. Dwayne Evans scored 13 points for the Billikens, who saw all five of their starters finish in double figures.
Saint Louis returns to action Saturday, Feb. 22, when it takes on George Washington at Chaifetz Arena. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m. The game will be televised on FOX Sports Midwest in St. Louis.
